what have they done to you?
your withering away in the cold

A banshee wandered upon the land, brisk movements made as she dared the wind to taunt her. Coming to a halt, the ebonite painted femmora lifted her head, nasal caverns flaring wildly as she settled herself uneasily upon a bluff. Her small, coal occuli snagged upon the few bantles who dared to frolic over the land, visage tossed ‘bout wildly. Her pelt was caked with that of mud and whatnot though ‘neath it lay a belt of unwanted scars, each licking her pelt with their own tale to tell. She was often quite gruff, not caring to particularly speak of what each scar meant, not needing to boast. A few lines had been traced at the corners of her mug, wearing the hair around her maw thin. They too had their own story behind her, one which she was growing tired of telling. And yet, she needed not to for every one in these lands knew it well.

Feeling a twitching at the corners of her maw, the demoness grew uneasy, her bones creaking slightly with age. Tracing the edges of the land with her gaze, the vix easily pictured what belonged to her past. Blowing rather agitatedly at the thought, bulk swung around, nipping roughly at the dead herbage for something to do.

Today, the banshee was finding it much to difficult to settle herself, longing for her memories to leave her for the moment. A flint struck out at the unworthy sod, emitting a blow which echoed slightly in the desolate land.

Glancing down at the sod which had long since been dug up, she brought herself off the ground, pillars cutting through the air as she balanced himself on muscular haunches. The fae was typically quite in her ways though it was with little patience in which she was finding herself. For only have seen five winters pass by, she had been in lands such as these far too many times. It disgusted her how vix, especially one of her nature, could remain her to be claimed like a piece of useless flesh. And yet, the ways of the wanderer were growing displeasing to her. Thus, she waited.

The young stallion had hardly ever spoken to a mare other than his mother. But he figured that if he were to have a heard, he'd better have a queen to start. His father, opting not to enter the land where the mares were, was scouting out a terra suitable for their future herd.

"Better you than me," he had said to his father. "You know what would be good for a herd to live on."

Midnight Doom soon smelled the scent of another horse--a mare, at that. He gave a chuckle; a part of him had been looking forward to this for his whole life. Finally, the start of his new herd would begin with this mare.

Hopefully. He didn't think about what would happen if the horse declined his invitation. He pawed the ground, trying to disguise his nervousness as eagerness. Well, what if I'm not asking her to join? What if I'm... telling her?

Putting it off no longer, he began to gallop toward the mare's scent. A gently snow was beginning to fall, though each flake that touched the equine's pelt soon melted from his body heat. As the scent grew stronger and stronger, his nervousness ebbed into excitement. He knew he was handsome, for a follower of Satan, anyway. But would this fae be so easily swayed? Part of him hoped not. He didn't want a queen with an empty head.

When he caught sight of the femme, his breath caught. She was amazing. Yes, she was grimy and her pelt marred by many scars, but young Midnight Doom didn't care. It made her look dangerous, like even a brawny stallion would think twice before picking a fight with her. Doom felt desire warm his dark pelt as he watched the fae prowl the field. gathering himself, he let out a loud neigh before cantering down to meet her.

He stopped close to the fae. At first, he didn't say anything. He let his orbs travel over the mare's pelt. A thought struck him: what if she is a follower of god? The thought was troubling, but he made no show of it. Dark, neutral, or light... willing or not... he wanted this fae to be his and his alone. Finally, he opened his maw. Greetings, fae. My name is Midnight Doom.

once again the world molested you
and took your soul

Though it was what one would deem as a rather pleasant day, the vix snarled with slight disgust of the things 'bout her. The sweet stench of luces attacked her nares while every about reeked of havoc and decay, poisoning the air until completely tainted. The trees within the vicinity moaned every so slightly as their aged limbs creaked, threatening the picturesque silhouette that the lands desire to give off.

She felt no particular need to bare her ivorns nor did she care to. T'was upon more than one occasion in which she had watched a damsel, that claiming the path of satan, act with hostility toward a stag that had ventured along her path. T'was no sign of true darkness in her set brainpain and thus, she saw no reason to act as such a poser. Then again, t'was not the brute's approval in which she require. In fact, t'was vise versa, in her thoughts. Had she not found one bastard in particular which even stung her cold hearted stone of a heart, haunches would turn in the wandering direction once more.

Shallow occuli scanned the edge of the terrain for another source of equine being, searing nasal caverns attracting the scent of testosterone before a picture painted the hideous scene. She was much aware that the golden, but slightly stained crimson, hide gave off the wrong idea to many who approached but she was all too deceiving. Seeing the nature of the hessian who had discovered her whereabouts, a soft smirk graced her labrums maliciously, a sinewy ripple visible beneath her pelt as she shifted with very little anticipation.

"Funny, I don’t remember asking." Tones held some aura of the coldest nature to them, tinted with the air of sarcasm. Quiet as her vox had been, it seemed to echo in the lands which remained deadly silent, listening to each word and stiff movement. Why was it that stags felt the need to present themselves immediately? Frankly, she didn’t give a damn what his name was. Crania dipped ever so slightly, creating a divot through the air. Not finding any need to properly greet the hessian, her motion was all that was physically offered. In every unspoken law of their kind, femmoras ranked below those of masculine form. However, the banshee had little respect or admiration for anyone other than herself and she wasn't 'bout to change her feelings now that this one had wandered along. The transaction between the two was bound to be one of great interest. ”You may call me Plague, if you must.”

Doom flicked a single aud at her sharp retort. He'd had his share of sarcastic equines; he could deal with them. His own orbs hardened; two could play at this game. He lifted his head and got a better look at the femme. She was certainly beautiful, with a golden pelt that might make one question her alliance. There was no mistaking the venom in her voice, though; this was no clean, god-fearing horse. He was acutely aware of how poorly she seemed to think of him, and he did his best to shake it off.

Plague... a name that invited no questions, really. The brute cocked his head slightly, as if seeing the femme for the first time. Again, the idea of just forcing her to come with him entered his mind, but he pushed it away. He knew he would have a stronger herd if his horses came willingly; if he was hated enough, he would be driven out. Ivories clacked in his maw as he thought of what to say to the golden-hued horse in front of him. Perhaps you hadn't noticed, but you have stumbled into a claiming ground. Surely an intelligent horse such as yourself couldn't have mistaken it for anything else? He arched his neck and pawed the ground, occuli narrowing. Perhaps I was the one who was mistaken; I thought I saw a mare of a golden pelt from the rise up there--one worthy of being the queen of my herd. But, if you're not interested... Doom was no idiot; there was a good chance that she wasn't interested, despite being in a claiming ground. But it was worth a try.

for most demons that completely sought to overpower each mare they came across, or anything with estrogen for that matter, they didn’t stand for sarcasm. therefore, upon crossing paths with figures of these sorts, plague went the extra mile to agitate them as best as she possible could. and oh, was she good at it. however, she knew how it was to have a torrid temper and suffered from it all the same.

lids enveloped wild occuli momentarily, lobes twitching as she set them to their task of listening for any sign of visitors. though the wind taunted the pair, she failed to detect a sign of any others, both eased and disappointed alike. sure, this particular painted bruja looked as light as they come but how contrary she was. not once had fear twitched in her dormant veins but rather pleasure for inducing such a thing. stereotypical dark? well of course though this one was different so to speak. the demoness felt absolutely no need to present any aggression or suffer from the loss of temper for remaining level headed and sly was much more devastating. oh yes, she knew the tricks of the trade and knew them too well for only seeing four winters.

a ripple of sinew shown under the golden-painted carcass, weight shifted uneasily as she was forced to remain in the lands longer than she wished to. tangled mass of her hock kisser snapped new welts upon her flesh, striking the bloodsuckers that dared to taunt her. indeed it seemed much more work to sit and wait for a brute to wander across her lone form than it was to continue on as a lone femme though patience was something that needed practice.

optics flickered as she glanced over his form, not bad. a not bad coming from plague was certainly something to be proud. no shit, of course she knew she was in the claiming grounds. plague had always, upon entering these lands, been fully aware of the fact that just about anything could happen to her. brutes would do anything to drive their newly claimed packages back to their homage though she was not one to be swayed easily. ”ahh, and what a lovely attempt at flattery….” sarcasm still riddled her tones though it eased slightly, the hiss not quite so great.

”did i say such a thing?” surely her actions portrayed disinterest though her mind had different thoughts dancing about. ”i am more than worthy, m’lord.” a malicious grin spread across her mug though she provided no more words. yes, she was worthy but could he honestly handle her?

Midnight Doom's pelt twitched as a snowflake landed on it and refused to melt. His auds were pricked forward, not pinned back in anger. To be honest, he was growing more intrigued by this femme with every word she said, be it hostile or not. Was this what he was supposed to be feeling? After living alone for so long, he didn't have the slightest idea of how to go about claiming a mare. He wondered if his father had this sort of experience with his mother, whom he didn't often think about.

"Take it how you want; I tell it as I see it. No doubt you do the same." Midnight Doom's orbs traveled over the mare once more; even though this was the first mare he'd seen since he was a foal, he knew that this was the one hwe wanted. He wasn't desparate, as some might say. He wasn't even lonely, though having a herd--and a queen--was something that he'd been curious about since being a yearling.

"No, you said nothing of the sort," Doom acknowledged, tossing his head. "But not everyone needs words to convey their thoughts." This was quite true; his father was one who could show anger just by the air about him. Doom wasn't sure he was so good at it... or could this femme sense the intense feelings coming off of him? Orbs narrowed and nostrils flared at her next words. "Well, then... would you like a chance to show me that is so?"

though plague was letting nature take its own course, she knew that she could bring about the nastiness of winter within a heartbeat. she, unlike the rest of her lineage, had been granted with a ‘gift’, just as many of the equines of these lands were. hell, it was no f**king gift but a god damn mutation, that was for sure. ice hid within every inch of her bulky carcass and devastation struck the lands when she decided to release it. for the most part, she merely brought forth a chill or light snow though the extent of what she was capable of doing was much, much worse.

even though honesty was a virtue of heaven kissers, plague had never felt the need to lie. if she killed, she admitted to it out of pure pride and bloodlust and she always admitted to her wrongdoings; didn’t any follower of satan? thus, she felt no need to lie to the hessian that had approached her, perhaps daring him to take her as she was. brutal as she was, she was a prize possession. even though the bruja had only seen a few winters past, she couldn’t even count to the number of the numerous stags that had dragged her back to their acreage, none lasting all too long.

ahhh yes, he was no stupid stag. though she had been curious, she attempted to shade it every so carefully. ”fair enough.” flints brought her forth, attenuated limbs aching with anxiousness. perhaps, just perhaps, she felt a twinge of excitement for hopes of finally finding a dwelling she would forever reside in. then again, she had had such hopes before, ones that failed. ”i suppose. the scent of heaven kissers is tainting my air.” indeed it was growing stronger. she used the excuse as one to follow him though she was truly curious as to what he would prove to be. "well then, be off." she snapped, scarred figurine picking up a lope.

Ivories within his maw clicked again as he awaited her response. He had worded it very carefully; he did not ask her to prove herself, as another brute might have done. Perhaps an ambivalent offer--leaving it up to the mare--was better than an outright demand or something.

Auds flicked as he heard her response. Maybe I can thank those god-fearing equines for something after all. The young stallion thought wryly. A hoof pawed the ground and he lowered his head, just for a moment, in a vague show of thanks. "My father will be with us," He growled. I left it up to him to choose the land in which my herd will reside. He is a wise old horse; I trust his judgment more than my own. He wondered if having an elderly equine hanging around would deter this femme from joining his herd; even if it did, Doom knew he could not drive his father out. Perhaps some Satan followers could attack and kill their kin, but that was something Doom didn't think he could do.

He lifted his nose up to the wind, searching for his father's scent. The wind had blown it toward the claiming grounds; Midnight Doom it would not be too faint to follow. Indeed, it wasn't, and his hooves pounded against the earth in a most satisfying way as he streaked his way to his new home, looking back once to see that Plague was following.
